Data Backup Planning
Making a plan to regularly back up your data is the key to making sure you never loose important documents, videos or pictures. The fact is every hard drive will fail sooner or later,
what is your plan to make sure your not surprised?
Reasons for hard drive failure:
Michanical fault - Sooner or later the bearings will give way in all but solid state hard drives. When this happens the only way to retrieve the data is to take apart the old hard drive and use parts from a spare to make a working copy of your files. It's like buying a hard drive and then paying someone to rebuild it.
Droped or shocked - your laptop was dropped or you had a power surge at your home.
Demagnitized - this is largely a wives tale as the size of magnets needed to demagnitize a hard drive would curl your hair.
